Wedding Checklist
Don't panic. The paperwork is not as daunting as it seems.
There are simply a few legal requirements that must be met in Australia for your wedding to proceed. You must be over the age of 18, and give one month's notice (NOIM) to either myself or the registry office.
Documents required for witnessing the NOIM, are your Birth Certificate and/or a non-cancelled passport, (out of date is ok). Photo Identification if no passport available.
Other documents that may be applicable to you or your partner are:
-
Divorce Certificate or Decree Absolute
-
Death Certificate of previous spouse
-
Shortening of notice of intended marriage
-
Court approval if under 18 years of age
If any documents are in a foreign language they must be translated through www.naati.com.au This is not difficult. I can guide you through this if necessary.
Please be aware if you are a non Australian resident being married will not automatically guarantee visa approval. All advice should be sought through Immigration Department or your legal representative.
Whilst I give you a commemorative marriage certificate, should you require an official one, you can either fill out a form from me or apply on line at Birth, Deaths and Marriages. Charges vary due to the type of certificate you require.
You will find all the details here at the SA Gov Website:
